Born in Izmir (Turkey) in 1952. She graduated from the Izmir American College Institute in 1971.
In 1999, she became a student again, registered at the Washington International University for the Master of Arts program, and received my MA in "education" through distance education in 2002.
Her articles and interviews were being published in various newspapers and magazines since 1972.
Her first book was a poetry 'Kent Duygusu (The Feeling of City)', for adults (1981).
She started writing for children after 1980's. Her first book for children 'The Child Who Doesn't Like The Night', 1991, contains original contemporary fairy tales.
In 1995, with her two colleagues, Aysel Gürmen and Ayla Ç?naro?lu, founded 'Uçanbalik Publishing', which is specialized in children's literature and literature for young adults. (www.ucanbalik.com.tr)
She has 100 books for children between the ages 2-15.
She also has 3 books, (one of poetry and two of short stories), for young adults.
Some of her stories and tales have been included in Turkish textbooks.
Some of her books have been translated into German, Bulgarian, Spanish and Persian.

Her picture books series The Magical Door (4-books) have been published in Bulgaria and also as e-book in Australia. Her four story books Oğlum Ben Çocukken (Son, When I was at your Age,) Kızım Ben Çocukken (My Little, When I was at Your Age,) Oğlum Nerdesin (Son, Where Are You,) Kızım Nerdesin (Darling, Where Are You) have been published by Oraman Publishing in Iran. Some others are yet being prepared for publishing…
One of her tales "The Quarrelsome Trees" was selected for the anthology, "Lines In The Sand" (published in 2003 by Francis Lincoln, England). The anthology is on sale through UNICEF and large bookstores like Amazon, with all profits and all royalties donated to UNICEF for the children of Iraq.
She has started several associations and leaded nationwide volunteer projects like: Hani Her Sey Oyundu (Well, Wasn't All Just A Game).
She writes critiques and introductions of children's books for a weekly book magazine which is addition of a well known daily newspaper Cumhuriyet.
Her books are well known and favored by children, parents and teachers.
She has two sons, Alper and Evren who is married with Nazlı.
